Fobally Framing
Why frame with us?
When you purchase an artwork with us, you can choose to have it framed with us too. We’ll make all the arrangements, just tell us what colour frame you’d like when adding the artwork to your basket.
All frames are created by our specialist team bespoke for your chosen artwork. The materials we use for all frames meet archival standards; in other words, it’s the type of framing used by museums and public galleries.
How long will framing take?
Once you’ve placed your order, the artist will send your artwork to our framers. Generally, artists ship in 2-3 working days. An individual artist’s shipping time can be found in the Artwork Details section of the product page.
Once our framers have received the artwork, they’ll begin hand-crafting the frame. This can take up to 5 working days as all frames are bespoke. The framed artwork will then be securely packed and picked up for delivery (or hand-delivered by our delivery agent if you’re based in Lagos).
Usually, this process takes about 10-14 days from placing your order to delivery. You’ll be kept up to date on the status of your order via email.
How it works
To order a frame for your artwork, select a frame colour from the list on the product page underneath Add a Frame.
Add the artwork to your basket and continue to the checkout to complete your order.
We’ll let you know once the artist has dispatched the artwork to our framing hub and also once it has been received. You’ll receive tracking details once the artwork has been framed and is on its way to you.
Framing Options
Our Standard Frame
The three colours of frame we offer are black, white, brown and walnut. Each frame is made of high-quality Ayous, an exotic hardwood. The frames are stained or painted for a finish that showcases the grain of the wood.
Mounting
A mount (or mat in American English) is a thin card layer that sets an artwork within a frame. Its main role is to protect the artwork by separating it from the frame and glazing, but it has the additional purpose of enhancing the artwork.
We use two types of mounts: float mounts and window mounts. We’ll choose the one that we think suits your artwork best, and use white as standard. If you have a preference though, just let us know.
All of our mounting options are made using archival standard, acid-free mount board and tape. This is also referred to as conservation framing as the materials used will help to preserve the condition of the artwork.
Each mount is made-to-measure by our framers so that it fits your artwork perfectly.
Custom Framing
We offer custom framing options on request. To order a bespoke frame outside of our standard specifications, or to discuss the options, email advisors@foballyartworld.com
Framing Canvases
We offer two options for framing canvases.
The first option is to have the canvas stretched, the process of mounting the canvas onto a wooden frame. A stretched canvas is ready to hang without a frame and celebrates the artwork with a simple finish. If the canvas you’re purchasing is already stretched it will be listed as ready to hang in the Artwork Details section of the product page.
We also offer tray framing for all canvases. Tray frames provide a wooden surround around the stretched canvas which is perfect for a clean and minimalist finish.
Email advisors@foballyartworld.com for a quote if you’re interested in having an artwork stretched or tray framed.
If you’d like your artwork tray framed but it’s listed as not ready to hang, you will be quoted for the cost of stretching and the tray frame.
